Testimonials

I first met Carlos in September 2024 when he taught a Tai Chi for Arthritis course. I appreciated his teaching style - incredibly patient and supportive with all the students. He was extremely approachable, always ready to answer questions, and he helped to correct our form in a respectful, encouraging manner. He listens to his students so that he best understands their needs and capabilities. Because of that, when the class ended, I chose to continue with Carlos for individual sessions.

The substance of the continuing practice has been life-altering for me. The methodological and meditative qualities have helped me to endure a couple of medical issues. i have found my physical flexibility has improved as well as my balance. Carlos' guidance has improved my physical and mental health.

I have been a student of Carlos for the past 3 years. Carlos is an informed and highly qualified teacher who aims to bring out the best in every student, regardless of their level of activity. He has an uncanny ability to to perceive (listen and notice) individual needs and then build on the person's correlating strength's, i.e., he teaches adaptive techniques, so that every student can feel successful in moving forward and gaining new ground.

Carlos's style of teaching is respectful, patient and open hearted, delivered with an easy sense of humor. At the same time, he models a standard of excellence and invites the student to step into their own potential. His work is grounded in his core belief that Tai Chi and Qigong can promote a holistically healthy lifestyle at any age. I had zero experience with Tai Chi and Qigong when I started with him at age seventy. I struggle with Chronic Lyme disease, knee and foot pain, as well as the lifelong effects of scoliosis. With Carlos as my guide, I have made consistent gains in physical balance, alignment (posture), strength, mindfulness and memory! I believe that anyone could benefit from even one session. Carlos is a wealth of knowledge and a gifted teacher.

I first met Carlos at a class called Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention. I had been struggling with bilateral hip arthritis and as a retired nurse I know how important it is to keep moving so I decided to try Tai Chi. From the very first class I have found Carlos to have a teaching style that includes a deep knowledge of Tai Chi, Qigong, Forest Bathing and other martial arts forms, along with the ability to listen carefully to what each of the class members were telling him both verbally and by what he observed as we moved. He would adjust his teaching accordingly using humor, encouragement, kindness and respect for each person. He gently helped each of us adapt the form to what we were able to do, the movements which have been encouraging and enlightening. We have been introduced to breathing techniques, Qigong movements, and an appreciation of the possibilities for healing that continued practice brings.

Before my second hip replacement this last January, I had been in the regular classes with Carlos even though I had to use a cane to get through the classes closer to my surgical date. Working with Carlos helped my balance, ability to walk, decreased feelings of stress/anxiety I had about not being able to function as I wanted, and helped me manage the longstanding pain from my hip.

I feel like I have moved to a more positive outlook about my ability to deal with the vicissitudes of getting older. I typically have not adhered to any exercise or activity, craft, group but he has created a place where several of the original participants  have connected with each other around his teaching and continue to meet once a week for the last two years to discuss what he has taught and practice together.

i have signed up to meet with Carlos individually for more focused teaching as I believe more and more that this practice and what/how he teaches has been of great benefit to me. He has shared with me his ongoing study of Qigong to provide specific benefit to people with medical issues in managing symptoms and healing, when I asked him, as a medical person, where he saw himself in the future using all he has learned. i would recommend Carlos to anyone who is interested in discovering an additional tool in the techniques we can use to promote healing and health mentally and physically.

I first met Carlos in May 2024 when I joined his Tai Chi class. Prior to joining his class I was experiencing balance issues and decreasing mental clarity. I soon began to feel the health benefits of the practice.Proper anatomical alignment and breath coordination are part of the Tai Chi form and are invaluable for achieving better physical balance. Successful execution of the Tai Chi movements requires subtle transitions of body weight and proper alignment, promoting balance. I find that each move helps develop skills of mental concentration, mental control, and relaxation, restoring mental freshness.

As a result of my practice, my balance and mental freshness are improving, my energy level has increased, my vitality renewed, and my confidence navigating the busyness of life is better. The meditative quality of the practice is another welcome health benefit. Carlos is an excellent communicator, is supportive, compassionate, and brings joy to every session. His commitment to the form and his students is inspiring. The fact that I am continuing to learn additional advanced movements is a testament to his instruction, encouragement, and support.

I am a senior with significant balance and focus issues. Carlos and Tai Chi have done more for me than two specialists did. Google says Tai Chi taps 'into inner energy (Qi) cultivating it's flow smoothly and powerfully thru the body." It's more. The practice increases flexibility, muscle strength, balance - functional mobility. It fosters mental acuity and mindfulness. By decreasing stress and depression Tai Chi promotes serenity, mental and emotional stability. Carlos teaches healthy breathing techniques facilitating wellness on many levels. He uses simple life experiences making learning easier. He is both patient and enthusiastic. My balance and focus are both better, but I am so much more. I love Tai Chi.
